"Notes" of An Elder ― 6.27.25

Dare to be great. Take a chance on you.

Nothing in life is of any value unless it is shared with others.

"Notes" of An Elder is a depository of pertinent information, knowledge and wisdom. Available weekly will be an elder's "thinking menu" for your use. Enjoy this bounty.

  • The person keeping you from being who you want to be… is the one you look at in the mirror.

  • Either you run your own life, or somebody else is gonna run it for you.

  • Dare to be great. Take a chance on you.

  • You can win — but first you have to believe that you can.

  • Your attitude about anything determines whether you’ll succeed.

  • You don’t have to be the smartest — but nobody should outwork you.

  • Association brings upon assimilation.

The Power of Being Uncommon

  • Being uncommon is the beginning of a new life.

  • Uncommon takes you from ordinary to extraordinary.

  • Let go of common — choose to be uncommon and part of the 1%.

  • Being uncommon may be the greatest growth opportunity of your life.

  • Make friends with the unknown — it’s where the uncommon live.

  • Practice is like a bank. If you don’t put anything in, you can’t take anything out.

  • If you put 50% into life, you’ll get 50% out. Input = Output.

  • The person in the mirror is the only one holding you back.

  • You’ve got to love your work — so much that if they didn’t pay you, you’d still do it.

  • Most people work for money, not for love. That’s why they’re miserable.

  • Listening is not the same as hearing. Hearing is passive. Listening is active.
