Sunday Thinking

“Your breath is a doorway to peace. Breathe through your thoughts. Hold on to your heart. One breath at a time. You are finding your way.”

The weekly Sunday Thinking newsletter is quick-hit content that aims to provide a booster shot to your thought process as you end and start your week.

"Dear Self. You don't have to be okay today. You don't have to hold yourself together today. You're allowed to fall apart. I know society teaches us to toughen up and be strong. But you're allowed to be soft. You're allowed to not know what to do next. You're allowed to be in pieces as you find your peace again. Your vulnerability is not a weakness. It is permission to be with yourself. It is permission to be yourself. You're not a robot. You're a human. Feel. Heal. Breathe. Love, Self."

― Alex Elle, Writer & Teacher

I. Never Underestimate

  • Never underestimate the power of routine and deep breathing.

  • Never underestimate the power of self-discipline and self-trust.

  • Never underestimate the power of taking breaks and solitude.

  • Never underestimate the power of small steps and patience.

  • Never underestimate the power of hard conversations and living your truth.

  • Never underestimate the power of a kind word, touch, or smile. People will never forget how you made them feel.

II. Leading With Faith

  • Faith can feel uncomfortable. Faith will challenge us. Faith will test us.

  • Our faith is also our victory. It's our trust factor. It will cause us to prevail in challenging moments.

“To have faith in a leader, people must also believe in his or her competence and steadiness. That’s why it’s so important that leaders have both character and capacity. Each is essential to earning people’s trust.” ― Gardiner Morse

III. Choosing Courage Over Comfort

Where do we find the courage to remain present in the face of the unknown, the unpredictable, the uncontrollable — to this thing called Life?

Courage is not the absence or denial of fear; it is facing fear and surrendering to the gifts it offers:

  • To change when change is needed.

  • To embrace the unknown in spite of our fears and insecurities.

We can actually begin to welcome such opportunities to become better acquainted with ourselves.

IV. What We’re Excited About

This One Move Will Make You A Financial Expert

Take one glance at the headlines and it can feel pretty scary out there. “Inflation Soars to over 8.5%”...“Inverted Yield Curve Screaming Recession in 12 weeks.” Simply put, it’s exhausting keeping up with traditional financial media.

Good News: we come bearing the gift of calm, collected insights without the fearmongering: The Daily Upside. Some call it the closest thing to getting your MBA up in Cambridge — we like to think of The Daily Upside as our big-brained sidekick to help navigate the world of business and investing.

V. Question

When was the last time you were in tune with your breath?

VII. This Week, I Will

  1. Listen and observe.

  2. Be grateful for my breath.

  3. Practice caring transparency.

  4. Choose courage over comfort.

  5. Remember, words can build or destroy.

The Last Words…

"There is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it."

― Amanda Gorman, The Hill We Climb
