Sunday Thinking

"Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes."

The weekly Sunday Thinking newsletter is quick-hit content that aims to provide a booster shot to your thought process as you end and start your week.

"Sometimes, you get what you want. Other times, you get a lesson in patience, timing, alignment, empathy, compassion, faith, perseverance, resilience, humility, trust, meaning, awareness, resistance, purpose, clarity, grief, beauty and life. Either way, you win."

― Brianna Wiest, The Pivot Year

I. Eyes on the Prize

In this season, may you shed fear and show up fully in heart and purpose.

While you’re in the arena taking on giants, some people will sit in the bleachers critiquing your strategy.

  • Keep your eyes on the prize and your ears tuned only to the still small voice within and to those who have done what you’re doing.

May the dream you're carrying come alive. May it soar and sing. May the delays and detours not cause you to quit. May you breathe, stretch, and birth the beautiful vision. May it exceed your imagination.

II. Controlling Your Attention

Arguably the most important skill is controlling your attention.

  • This goes beyond merely avoiding distractions.

  • The deeper skill is finding the highest and best use for your time, given what is important to you.

More than anything else, controlling your attention is about being able to figure out what you should be working on and identifying what truly moves the needle.

III. A Gentle Reminder

If something ignites you — chase it.

  • Chase it, because you don't want to look back in two years, or five years, or twenty years and wonder what would have been.

  • Chase it, because you don't want to think back to all of the potential, and all of the beauty, you missed out on because you were afraid, or because you let an idea of yourself that was untrue rob you of your joy or your capacity to move confidently in the direction of the things that inspired you.

  • Chase it — because you can, because you deserve to experience what is profound and remarkable in this world, because you are worthy of the things that make your chest tighten with happiness and wonder.

  • Chase it, because you never know what is waiting for you on the other side of your comfort.

You never know what is waiting for you on the other side of your hope.

IV. What We’re Excited About

V. Question

In what ways are you being more compassionate to yourself and others?

VI. This Week, I Will

  1. Listen to understand.

  2. Worry less and trust more.

  3. Apply actions to intentions.

  4. Use my power to empower others.

  5. Believe better is on the way, and not lose hope.

The Last Words…

"As the year ends, I want to remind you that life gives you what you need. Lessons and triumphs; hard times, the best of times, and the most mundane of days. So go with the flow. Go with life. Look for the opportunities and the beauty in the small things. Take your time, go slow, and enjoy the moment. Learn from the challenges. Look back with heartfelt gratitude, and go forward with excitement and anticipation. Good things are coming, many challenges are behind you. But most importantly, fall in love with this moment. An ending and a new beginning. A moment in between."
