Sunday Thinking

"Bless the challenges in your life that they initiate you into greatness."

The weekly Sunday Thinking newsletter is quick-hit content that aims to provide a booster shot to your thought process as you end and start your week.

"With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose."

― Wayne Dyer, Change Your Thoughts

I. How Serious Are You?

  • If you are serious about growth, be serious about accountability.

  • If you are serious about abundance, be serious about gratitude.

  • If you are serious about intimacy, be serious about vulnerability.

  • If you are serious about discipline, be serious about delayed gratification.

"Everything you need is already inside you. Everything you seek is within you. You are exactly where you need to be in this moment." ― Elena Sonnino

II. The Inner Scorecard

Warren Buffett lives by a framework called The Inner Scorecard.

There are two general ways to measure success:

  • Outer Scorecard

  • Inner Scorecard

The Outer Scorecard is based on things like:

  • Titles, Money and Accolades

The Inner Scorecard is based on things like:

  • Values, Principles, Standards, Excellence and Commitment

"The big question about how people behave is whether they’ve got an Inner Scorecard or an Outer Scorecard. It helps if you can be satisfied with an Inner Scorecard.” — Warren Buffett

III. The Greatness Mindset

Key lessons to fuel our self-discovery and leadership journey:

  • Nothing is more empowering than facing the fear that controls you.

  • Your courage will give way to growth, which will give way to mastery.

  • Compare yourself to a past version of yourself rather than to others.

  • When people go all in on the things they love, magical things start to happen.

  • Done is better than perfect. Your breakthrough is coming.

VI. This Week, I Will

  1. Breathe, relax, let it pass.

  2. Put the overthinking to bed.

  3. Be open to reimagining things.

  4. Prioritize periods of rest and reflection.

  5. Cultivate peace through the turbulence.

The Last Words…

"You change your life when you start showing up exactly as you are. You change your life when you become comfortable with being happy here, even if you want to go forward. You change your life when you can love yourself even though you don’t look exactly the way you want to. You change your life when you are principled about money and love and relationships, when you treat strangers as well as you do your CEO, and when you manage $1,000 the same way you would $10,000. You change your life when you start doing the truly scary thing, which is showing up exactly as you are. Most of the problems that exist in our lives are distractions from the real problem, which is that we are not comfortable in the present moment, as we are, here and now. So we must heal that first."
